Dallas Police, FBI target violent criminals near Fair Park – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Special Agent in Charge Matthew J. DeSarno of the FBI Dallas said a large-scale operation involving multiple locations and more than 400 law enforcement officers was undertaken Thursday morning to help tackle violent crime in the city.
DeSarno said the police action targeted the city’s criminal leaders as well as other violent offenders. He added that the work carried out by the task force highlighted the direct coordination between Dallas Police detectives and FBI agents working together to identify the most violent parts of town and to investigate. the fight against violence in this part of the city.
DeSarno said the general area was targeting an area near Fair Park where there had been a significant increase in violent gang and drug crime from 2018 to 2020.
ATF Dallas special agent Jeffrey Boshek II said the targeted area was the region’s most dangerous area for violent crime and the measures taken Thursday will have a long-term effect on crime in Dallas.
DeSarno added that a number of people had been arrested in multiple locations, but as federal, state and local law enforcement efforts were so recent, court documents related to the operation had not yet been unsealed and there was information he could share.
More information is expected to be released soon when these documents are unsealed.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said he is proud of the partnerships between local, state and federal agencies and that the department is not alone in keeping the city and the citizens of Dallas safe. . He added that they would continue to work with federal agencies to deploy their collective strength to keep communities safe.
In addition to Garcia and Boshek, DeSarno was joined at the press conference by Acting US Attorney for the North Texas District Prerak Shah and Special Agent in charge of DEA Dallas Eduardo Chávez.
