Gladbach striker Marcus Thuram responds to Bayern Munich rumors
Marcu Thuram has been potentially linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer, as recording master have shown they plan to make a big move for a top striker just a summer after losing Robert Lewandowski. Specifically, they have been linked to Tottenham Hotspur‘s Harry Kane, although there are well-founded objections that Bayern will eventually secure an award for the England captain, and Thuram could prove to be a viable contingency plan should that happen.
Thuram recently addressed Bayern Munich’s ties to French outlet L’Equipe (via @iMiaSanMia). For now, he is not interested in thinking about what awaits him after Borussia Mönchengladbach. His current contract with Die Fohlen only runs until June 2023, however, and with no talks over a renewal at Gladbach, he will soon be free to negotiate with other clubs for his next contract.
“Bayern are a very big club. But for me, I plan day by day. What good would it do me to plan three years ahead? If I want to become the best Marcus I can be, I have to plan for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, not in two years,” Thuram told L’Equipe.
Still, its representatives are surely weighing the options behind the scenes. Thuram has enjoyed a brilliant start to the campaign, having bagged 11 goals and 3 assists from a total of 14 appearances in all competitions so far. The dramatic 2-1 loss to Union Berlin actually broke his goalscoring streak in his previous four Bundesliga appearances.
Bayern have no shortage of goals so far and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s recent form is sensational. Bring in Sadio Mane from liverpool reinforced what was already a solid attack, even with Lewandowski leaving for FCBarcelonaand the club’s front office have been quick to quell suggestions that a striker is needed this winter in the transfer window – although they didn’t completely close that door.
If it isn’t Bayern pushing in their pursuit of Thuram, surely another club will the longer they go without signing an extension with Daniel Farke’s side.
