New World Responds to Cashier Concerns, Stresses Launch Store Will Only Have Cosmetics, Says AGS Considering Battle Pass-like System
New world the cash shop is still a concern for gamers who were hoping for a non-shop MMO to hit the market. The Amazon Game Studios team released a statement Friday night addressing concerns and expanding their plans for microtransactions in the New World.
The statement, released late on a Friday evening, addresses concerns raised by gamers since it was announced that alpha testers had the option to test the store. The news came as the alpha players broke the NDA, as much of the worry is that Amazon has made improvements for services like trading skills and experience gains.
Amazon addressed this issue in a statement on Twitter, stating that only cosmetics will be in the store, but with one caveat: at launch.
“There were some questions raised recently in our Alpha patch notes regarding a game showcase,” Rich Lawrence, New world studio director, begins in the statement. He continued:
“Our plan in having a store is to create an outlet for players who find enough value in the items in the store to be happy to buy them. Our plan is not, and never will be, to create the feeling that in-store items are necessary to enjoy it. the game. All players will be able to enjoy the full gaming experience that we deliver without having to make in-store purchases. “
The letter continued, stating that the items at launch will be “exclusively cosmetic in nature.” However, Lawrence spoke about future plans with the store, confirming that the team is indeed looking for potential “quality of life items for mechanics like rested XP and fast travel”. Lawrence seems to indicate that this plan is aimed at ensuring that more players can “enjoy [their] Exciting end-game content. “
“Looking ahead, we’ll also be testing ideas on how to provide players with Quality of Life items for mechanics like Rested XP and Fast Travel, both available in-game and purchasable in. shop. The timing of the release of these types of items will depend on player progress in the months following launch. The more players there are who are able to experience all of our exciting end-game content and gameplay, the healthier the overall gaming experience will be for all players. “
The team also touched on other future projects beyond the basic storefront, stating that they were looking for a “battle pass” style program, much like what we see in free titles. Nowadays. Lawrence insists these passes will be “tested in advance to ensure they provide high value without disrupting gameplay for those not participating.”
