Portsmouth Historic Tax Credit Briefing Scheduled for January 12
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Department of Historic Resources (DHR) has scheduled a historic tax credit briefing for Wednesday, January 12 at 6 p.m.
The session will take place virtually on Microsoft Teams. No registration is required to attend.
Virginia DHR Tax Credit Supervisor Jessica Ugarte seeks to provide information on federal and state rehabilitation tax credit programs. Both programs are administered by Virginia DHR.
Officials say that preserving historic buildings offers economic benefits, incentives for private investment in preservation, and links to personal heritage.
State tax credits are available for:
- Buildings occupied by their owner
- Income-producing properties
Federal tax credits may be available for:
- Buildings reducing income
Following the Tax Credit Information Session, there will be a live question and answer session so homeowners can learn about the historic tax credit programs in Portsmouth.
