Trevor Noah tackles ‘beef’ with Kanye West in behind-the-scenes clip from The Daily Show
In a video posted on The daily showThe TikTok account of, the talk show host answered a question about his disagreements with West from an audience member. “Why are you working with Ye?” Noah is asked off-screen.
“Why do I work with Kanye? That’s an interesting way to put it because a beef has to go both ways,” Noah replied.
“It does. It really does. In my limited understanding of the world, beef has always been something that usually happens between two hip-hop artists. I’ve never been in conflict with Kanye West. I was worried for Kanye West.
West went after Noahfrom South Africa, during an appearance on the Drink champions podcast on Saturday October 15 with rapper NORE and DJ EFN. He also made derogatory comments about Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
“Trevor Noah, not even from America, he just looks black, right?” West says.
But in the clip released Friday, Oct. 21, Noah continued to answer the audience member’s question without referencing West’s recent remarks.
“If someone tells me or someone they have a mental health issue. And they tell everybody that when they don’t take their meds they can’t control themselves and then everybody ignores when that person has an episode and they haven’t taken the meds and then they boring -train the person and then they put them in place,” Noah said. “I sometimes think it’s a bit s****y, to be honest with you.”
After discussing how his own grandfather’s mental health issues affected his family, he said his real problem was how society reacted to West’s outbursts: “What I’m struggling with, it’s that we, the society, don’t rally around the person and say, ‘Hey, maybe this isn’t the time to put a microphone in your face so you can walk away saying everything. If that’s what you mean when you take your medication, then that’s another story. But because you told us, I’m not going to sit back and say that.
Noah concluded by reiterating that he’s still a fan of West: “I still play Dropping out of college. I always play the music. I still love the man I think he is.
On The daily show in March, Noah addressed West “harassing” Kardashian online as their relationship crumbled, and in turn, West directed racial slurs at the TV host and was banned from Instagram.
